Queenstown is New Zealand's foremost alpine resort, which is surrounded by beautiful mountains and clear blue lakes. Whatever you do, whatever your style, Queenstown will feed your imagination, fuel your passions and revitalize your spirit. Winter in Queenstown is officially 1 June to 31 August - rug up, keep cozy. Winter temperatures seldom reach more than 7°C or 8°C (44°F - 46°F) and can fall well below 0°C (32°F), and the ski season often lasts until early October. Queenstown has it all. Thrill seekers can take their pick of adventure activities, most still in full swing during winter, while those seeking relaxation can chill out on the golf course, in a vineyard, at a luxury spa or in the many shops, galleries, bars and restaurants.
Getting to Queenstown is easy as Queenstown International Airport is well served by major airlines. Air New Zealand and QANTAS Airways make international and domestic flights into Queenstown. Travel from some countries will need to be via Auckland or Australia.
There are daily direct domestic connections from New Zealand's main centres: Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Queenstown Airport is located 10 kilometres from the town centre. It costs around NZD$25 by taxi to the city centre. Airport shuttle buses are cheap and readily available.
Getting Around in Queenstown
The local bus service Connectabus is a great way to explore the area and operates from early morning to late at night. Connectabus services all major hotels and motels every 20 minutes. Routes cover Queenstown, Frankton, Arthurs Point, Arrowtown, Millbrook Resort, Lake Hayes, Remarkables Park, Queenstown Airport, Fernhill and Sunshine Bay.
Players will be staying at the Novotel Queenstown Lakeside Hotel, a short walk from the Casino. We recommend the Novotel Queenstown Lakeside Hotel in Queenstown but the city also boasts a wide variety of other hotels from deluxe through standard to bed-and-breakfast style accommodation.
