AUSTRALIA NEW ZEALAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Season 4
The Australia New Zealand Player of the Year award is back for 2012. All ANZPT Season 4 main events will qualify for the all valuable POY points, as will other selected events.
Over AUD$40,000 in prizes will be awarded to the two players who achieve the highest points at all ANZPT events during ANZPT Season 4 in accordance with the ANZPT overall points programme.
Not only will ANZPT players have the chance to share in the tournament prize pool – the overall point leaders have the opportunity to become sponsored players.
The Australia New Zealand Player of the Year Champion will win sponsorship to three Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) events* as well as the Aussie Millions Main Event! Sponsorship includes Main Event entry and USD$1,500 towards travel and accommodation expenses. Sponsorship will apply to Season 7 APPT Main Events and the 2013 Aussie Millions. This prize is valued at approximately AUD$28,000*.
The Australia New Zealand Player of the Year Runner-up wins sponsorship (Main Event entry and USD$1,000 towards travel and accommodation expenses to four Season 5 ANZPT events**. This prize is valued at approximately AUD$13,000.
Terms and conditions apply. In particular, in order to claim a prize the winner:
- must have complied with all terms and conditions of participation in ANZPT events;
- will be required to sign a Sponsored Player Agreement. (This will require the player to wear clothing that displays sponsor logos exclusively for all tournaments in which the player will participate as a sponsored player).
Failure to do so will result in the winner no longer being entitled to claim the prize and the relevant prize will be awarded to the next leading points player.
* except Asia Championship of Poker.
** except ANZPT Grand Final.
Points Weighting:
Player of the Year points will be awarded on different scales depending on the buy-in and type of the event.
ANZPT Season 4 main events with buy-ins of AUD$2,200-$2,500 will receive participation points, plus the set bonus points scale according to the POY points table.
The ANZPT Grand Final, APPT Melbourne, will award participation points and receive 25% bonus point weighting according to the POY points table. For example, if we have a field of 400+ players, the winner will receive 10 participation points, plus 87.5 bonus points (70*1.25).
Other selected events will not receive participation points, and the top 10 finishers in the tournament will receive 25% less bonus point weighting according to the POY points table. For example, if we have a field of 400+ players, the winner receives 52.5 bonus points (70*0.75).
